The Malinke Djembe Drumming Tradition
from Hamana, LIVE in Chicago!

Don't miss the very first performances in the United States by two of Master Drummer Famoudou Konate's best apprentices! Nansedy Keita, Famoudou's nephew and the Second Soloist in his ensemble, is joined by Sayon Camara, a great djembe drummer and the Second Soloist in Nansedy's ensemble in Guinea. They're backed by the Chicago Djembe Project, one of Chicago's top traditional djembe ensembles.

If you own Famoudou's Buda CDs, you've heard Nansedy's blazing solos and Sayon's rock-solid accompaniment. They represent the best of Malinke tradition, while holding their own with the best of the city-born and ballet-trained drummers in Conakry.

Everyone will love these performances--from connoisseurs of African drumming to those who are experiencing intricate, melodic, authentic African percussion for the first time. Don't miss these shows!
